Description

Work with your moderator and other participants to build strategies to balance language and conceptual demands in your classroom practice and to assess learners fairly. Work through four modules covering rationale for successful CLIL teaching, techniques to support your learners, thinking skills and assessment.

The modules in this course fall under the professional practices Understanding educational policies and practices, Planning lessons and courses and Assessing learners. These include:

  • Locating up-to-date and relevant information about international, national, regional and institutional educational practice.
  • Employing professional and pedagogical practices that are consistent with applicable policies related to areas including learner empowerment and the goals of education.
  • Selecting and developing the activities, resources and materials which engage my learners and correspond to the aims of the lesson.
  • Reflecting on the approach and effectiveness of my lesson planning, incorporating learner feedback and other evidence.
  • Describing how my learners’ understanding will be checked or assessed.
  • Describing when and how feedback on my learners’ performance will be provided.
  • Utilising a range of different types of assessment and feedback.
  • Using assessment at different points in the learning process to monitor my learners’ understanding and inform subsequent teaching.
  • Defining appropriate assessment criteria and/or apply assessment criteria consistently.

There’s a primary and secondary version of each unit. Choose which fits your teaching context. You do not need to do both.

To pass the course you need to score at least 70% in online exercises. You also need to contribute to online forum discussions and webinars (online workshops that take place in real time), to demonstrate your application of course content in your teaching.
